I understand that the faculty is a strong intelligent body that does, because of the ability to be at Buxton, know what Buxton and the community needs. But I also would like to acknowledge the fact that many finical issues are and have been decided by the board. I was NOT and am not now trying to point blame at teachers, board members or anybody else. I realize that Buxton changes constantly and that cannot be stopped. I also realize that once one has left from the community, it is almost impossible to know all the nitty gritty that goes on, but that is my point. Such drastic changes so often and So many people unaware! I have realized in the last month or so how quickly disconnected you be come from Buxton no matter how much you think you wouldn't. I am simply asking those who might read this and the last notice posted to become, whether you haven't been in contact with people for 10 years or just one, more involved in Buxton. Nobody can have the same experience that you had, that is yours alone, unique to you, but others can have that, remember in a good way, look back in fond memory type experience that you had (hopefully). It is true that the money you might have spent on a coffee or a stripper is hard to part with, but it seems that such drastic measure call for drastic help. I think that often Buxton does not show how much it needs help financially and it is so easy to just ignore or toss out those mailing asking for money. After this last school year the school small endowment went form $800,000 about to near $700,000. I only want others to be aware of the changes taking place, perhaps to draw someone who hasn’t been in contact with the school for a while to recall the time spent at that place on the hill and perhaps cause them to want to become more involved in the schools future. There are many people who keep in contact with other from Buxton and Buxton Faculty, but there are SO MANY more who don’t, who don’t pay attention and have let Buxton become a distant memory. So… I have one question right now that interests me, DID either of the two who have responded to my notice know about the changes stated?
IT is EASY to forget about the needs of a place like Buxton, it is hard to part with hard earned money the is put in to an envelope and then seems to disappear for ever, not results seen, no awards given. Just try to be in touch with the changes, whether through friends who have sisters or brothers who attend Buxton currently or through this website with updates from newer alums, and then act on what you hear. Don’t be a stranger! We are all connected through this one amazing place and we should also be connected to that place.
Thanks again
