A
dmissions Procedure

Buxton welcomes inquiries from students who are eager to learn and who desire to be active participants in their education.

Here are the basics that you need to know about applying to Buxton. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us. We are looking forward to hearing from you!

U.S. Applicants

Buxton School accepts students from the U.S. into the freshman, sophomore and junior classes each year. In rare cases, we will consider an applicant for the senior year. Please contact us if you are interested in this option.

International Applicants

Buxton School welcomes international students to come for one, two, three, or four years. Although we mainstream international students into the regular classes and community at Buxton, we also offer one-on-one ESL tutoring. For more about applying from abroad, please see the checklist included in our application forms.

If you want to get to know Buxton better, please call the admissions office to schedule a time for a tour of the campus and interview.

The Application and Interview

All Applications and financial aid materials should be submitted by February 1. We will mail our decision letters by March 10 and will need to hear back from you by April 10. We also offer an early-notification option -- for more information about this, please contact us. After the February deadline, applications will be acted upon on a rolling basis if space is available.

At Buxton, a personal admissions interview is a necessary part of the application process. We feel that the best way for us to get to know you- and for you to get to know us- is through mutual exchange and contact. When you come for your appointment, you will have the opportunity to tour the campus, meet with students, visit classes, and have an interview -- a relaxed conversation with a faculty member of the school. (And in case you're wondering, we interview students and parents separately on the same day.) A phone interview is an option for students who live at a great distance.
