The
Buxton Parent Community was organized in 1999 by several
parents who wanted to build a strong group to support the
spirit, educational programs, and financial foundations
of the school.
Becoming
involved with the Buxton Parent Community offers an opportunity
to give to the school in a truly significant way. Our success
is a direct result of the distinct contributions of our
parent members.
Parents
are invited to contribute in any way that matches their
individual talents, interests, and schedules. We look forward
to your participation.

Class Representative/Fundraising
Each class has parent volunteers who contact fellow parents
to solicit gifts in support of the school's operating budget.
This is a good opportunity for parents who do not live close
to campus, as the work is done from home on their own time
. In recent years, this support has enabled Buxton to achieve
strong levels of participation.
• Parent to Parent
Parent volunteers contact new families before the opening
of school and the Fall Arts Weekend to welcome them and
answer questions. New families can call upon their parent
contact to respond to concerns and questions that relate
to their child's experience at Buxton.
• Senior Family Gift
This gift has become a significant fundraising tradition
at Buxton. Families of seniors work with the school to choose
and support an important project to honor the students of
the graduating class.
• Prospect
Gatherings
Read about organizing and hosting informational meetings
for prospective students and their parents. Volunteering
in this way is invaluable to the recruiting efforts at Buxton.
• Prospect Contact
Working closely with the Admissions Office, parents (and
alumni and friends) volunteer to talk with prospective students
and their families about Buxton. This provides a perspective
that complements the written materials and on-campus interview.
• Newsletter/School Press Releases
In the interest of providing engaging and up-to-date information
to the Buxton community and beyond, parents generate ideas
and write articles for the Buxton Newsletter. Parents
also assist in distributing information about Buxton events
to hometown newspapers.
